I have so many thoughts about this amazing piece that I can’t keep up! That sentence…”So many instants have to transpire to lead to the one that traumatizes us,” is staggering because it’s so true. Things don’t happen in a vacuum. Every horrific, sad, unjust event—and there are SO many right now!—has a whole history behind it building up to that instant where everything changes. I’m thinking of abortion rights stripped away, Putin’s genocide in Ukraine….actually EVERY single thing that’s happening right now, all of it, years of tiny instants building up to the big one. You’re so right! Also, on another note, that picture of you blowing out the candles. Oh my God. I can still see that adorable little girl in your now.

I was home sick with the flu the day the Challenger went down. I'll never forget it. We recently moved back to Indiana from Houston and last spring I did a personal NASA tour. One of my stops was at the Challenger memorial.
