I look forward to your future Substack where you’ll detail the depth of your crush on the late James Gandolfini. He’s the reason to watch The Sopranos again and again.
This feels serendipitous because I recently watched The Sopranos for the first time last month. We will have to chat in Dublin like people did when it first aired.
Current obsession: short stories! Re-reading Alice Munro, one of my very favorite writers, after her recent passing. Recently discovered William Trevor, an Irish writer, by accident, a prolific writer I'm happy to see. And Eilis NI Dhuibhne, also newly discovered, also Irish, LOVE her short stories. Another obsession, spot shrimp that we're pulling up now from Prince William Sound in Alaska. There's something about them being 400+ ft. down in cold, cold water, that gives them a whole different taste and texture! Guilty pleasure: I recently had a house guest who had never seen Modern Love (based on NYT column) so I had to watch it again with her. I've also never watched The Sopranos and will now consider! (or Game of Thrones).
I resisted The Wire for 20 years, and then watched all seasons in a couple of months. Thank you for those podcast recommendations! Looking forward to them.
What a fun list! You've made me excited to read Piglet, which is waiting for me on the hold shelf at my local library. I'm envious that you're watching the Sopranos for the first time. An actor from the show goes to the same coffee shop I do and always orders an almond milk matcha, which the baristas make fun of when he leaves. They say it must taste "bitter and dusty". Makes me wonder what they say about my order when I'm not there.

We actually have nightly conversations now about our Sopranos crushes. (The list is short.)
Yeah. Paulie Walnuts is a dreamboat.

I won’t be through the series yet by then! I’m only on season 2. So no spoilers!

I already miss Alice Munro.
Can’t wait to see you in 3 weeks!!

I’m still resisting The Wire! Should I do it??
Yes! After an episode or two I felt like a fool for having waited so long.
Team Wire! Maybe my favorite show.
Update: My brother, sister-in law, and Dad are all now listening to S-town. Adult nieces have it downloaded for their flight to Norway this weekend.
They are in for a treat, albeit a dark one.
I ALWAYS LOVE your recommendations!!!❣❣❣
I was thinking of you, but I think you did all those pods already!
Yes lol almost all of them
I loved reading this!!
Yes, the flan was amazing. Aside from your many talents you are truly an accomplished culinary artist.
I just started reading The Winner!!
love, Mom
Only my mother would call me “an accomplished culinary artist.”
