Talking with my mom today about this exact subject. At 28 I have struggled with eating disorders (been overweight and underweight) and I was telling her that now I finally feel like I am approaching the middle of the boat. Not just with my body but with everything in my life. Thank you for sharing this insight ✨
I liked the covid and the Sligo observations but enjoyed the St Kevin part the most -- I've written about him too,(https://tomnickel.medium.com/the-question-of-st-kevin-7f6868102460). I think he can teach us a lot. I've published my first book length novella, "Murder in the Metaverse." at the age of 75 and am now onto a second. I would like to talk about writing or better yet, listen to talk about writing. I have a lot to learn. I like stories and wonder how much I can do without embodied characters and fully described places.
Now I understand what was happening in that photo! You were both going into the ocean! For some reason I couldn't see that before. Diana, I'm so glad you went swimming in the north Atlantic but I honestly can't imagine you doing this!
I love ocean swimming more than anything and in Newfoundland there's not much choice but to get used to the cold water if you want to swim more than one month out of the year, ha! I've worked my way up gradually to a May-October window, and there's nothing like it in the world. I feel superhuman when I get out, even after a 7-second plunge. When I'm swimming a few times a week, everything changes. I'm calmer, have more patience with my kid, work is less stressful. There's really something to it. Keep at it, you'll love it! Thanks so much for this piece, I really enjoyed it. :)
Diana I love your writing, so real and accessible! Looking forward to the zoom.
Terri! It will be great to see you there!
Loved this! Particularly being on the same ground as you. I just got back from Ireland—and got Covid—I can viscerally relate!
Dana! Oh nooo, I thought Covid skipped you. Damn. I hope you're feeling better. x

Thank you for this. If you’re finding your way at 28, you’re doing great, by the way. ❤️
Thank you! Needed to hear this today. Love your work. You inspire me to keep be a woman and writing and traveling!
❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wish I’d seen your post while writing my post! I could have filled in more detail. Thanks for sharing it, for commenting, and for supporting! x
I have a yearning to go just where you went. Can feel the cold water on my skin already! Thank you.
xx

Now I can visit you without fear of tubing.
Serious FOMO here. What a great piece!
We missed you and kept talking about you! If you’re feeling FOMO, remember you definitely would have gotten Covid.

Hi Willow. A swim in Newfoundland sounds so dreamy. I love how you put it: “I feel superhuman when I get out…”. Yes!
Such a beautiful way with words.
Can't wait for Zoom class tomorrow night. And I pre-ordered Allison's "The Wedding People". I will start reading it tomorrow.
