I have an insatiable appetite for con artists. This podcast, about a woman infiltrating a family and divesting them of their life savings, hooked me from start to finish. I binged Inventing Anna, I love The Talented Mr. Ripley, I’m riveted by every tale of catfishing. I always wondered how anyone could fall for a con. Wouldn’t I be discerning enough to sniff out the swindler?

Turns out…nope.
